David Cawley, MSW, Founding Partner
David Cawley has provided direct operations oversight to more than 500 community hospitals and other behavioral health providers throughout the United States over the last 40 years. During this period, he has been a senior executive at several national behavioral health companies, including Executive Vice President of Mental Health Management, President and CEO of FHC Management Services, and Vice President of Contract Services at Charter Behavioral Health Systems. David is a U.S. Army Veteran. David’s extensive operational and strategic planning experience allows us to offer creative solutions to your unique marketplace challenges.
Jim Johnson, MBA, Founding Partner
Jim Johnson has worked in the behavioral healthcare industry for 45 years, accumulating an extensive background of experience in hospital operations and fiscal management. He has been a CFO in a community hospital and a CEO of several private psychiatric hospitals. He also served as Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations for Charter Behavioral Health Systems, with responsibility for strategic, operational and fiscal oversight of 35 psychiatric and substance abuse hospitals. His vast experience in operations, managed care strategies, expense management, acquisition and merger strategies and joint ventures provides our clients with accountable and field-tested leadership.Jean Hubbard, MN, RN, Vice President of Clinical Operations and Quality Improvement
Jean Hubbard has more than 30 years of experience in psychiatric nursing, including positions as Director of Clinical Services and Director of Nursing for a freestanding psychiatric hospital. Jean also has held management positions in federal, state and county non-profit psychiatric facilities. She has designed and implemented adult inpatient dual diagnosis and general adult programs; partial hospitalization programs; geriatric inpatient and outpatient programs; adolescent inpatient programs and child programs. She has participated in federal, state and JCAHO regulatory reviews and has developed performance improvement plans for the full range of behavioral health services. Jean is a valuable clinical resource to ensure our client programs and hospitals meet all patient, payer source and regulatory needs.Harriet Cooney, RN, MSN, CNE, Clinical Operations Consultant
Harriet Cooney’s nursing career has spanned 40 years of progressive advancement, beginning as a staff nurse in medical and psychiatric settings. She has expertise in The Joint Commission and CMS regulations, ANCC Magnet Designation, program feasibility, analysis and patient care, and leadership and communications. During her career, Harriet served as Clinical Director for The Institute of Psychiatry at The Medical University of South Carolina, a 105 bed acute psychiatric teaching facility, which included a geriatric inpatient program over a 20 year career. In this nursing executive role, Harriet was responsible for all nursing managers as well as regulatory and compliance issues and patient safety, and served on the executive team. Prior to becoming Clinical Director, Harriet served in a number of managerial and director roles, including Unit Manager, Case Manager, and Program Nurse Specialist for a geriatric inpatient program at MUSC. Additionally, Harriet has served as Clinical Instructor at MUSC and as Chief Nursing and Chief Clinical Officer at two freestanding psychiatric hospitals in Tennessee and Texas.Kelvin Drawdy, BS, Revenue Cycle Operations Consultant
Kelvin Drawdy has more than 25 years of experience in hospital and health system business office functions and physician practice management. Kelvin’s expertise includes development and implementation of front-end and back office revenue cycle services, resulting in improved collections, cash flow and compliance with government and commercial payer requirements. Prior to his work with The CawleyJohnson Group, Kelvin served, among other positions, as Revenue Cycle Services Director for Perot Systems’ Physician Services Division, and Vice President of Business Office Operations for Healthcare Financial Advisors. He is a frequent contributor to articles pertaining to relevant issues which impact physician practices today, and is a featured speaker for the Healthcare Financial Management Association on such topics as A/R Management, Capitation and the Impact on Business Office Operations, and Worker’s Compensation.
Tom Brennan, MSW, Operations and Addictions Consultant
Tom Brennan has over 40 years of successful experience in the mental health and addictions treatment field in varied clinical and administrative positions. He has focused most of his career in Addiction Services including early in his career as an assessment and treatment clinician, has worked closely with referral sources and support groups like AA and NA and Al-Anon, and has served as Community and Marketing Director of treatment programs. During the past thirty five years, Tom has served as a Regional Vice President for a National Recovery Center with multiple facility and program locations across the country, and has served successfully as Administrator / Executive Director of treatment programs in Maryland, Florida, Ohio and Virginia since the late 1980s, in both not for profit and for profit ownership systems. Tom brings a wealth of operational, clinical and strategic knowledge and experience, including a national perspective in assessing challenges in existing programs and communities, developing efficient strategies to meeting patient and community needs in fiscally responsible ways, and determining the viability and needs for new services. Tom is a Vietnam Veteran, having served honorably in the US Marine Corps.
